THE FORMULATION AGAINST FOAM AND DEPOSITS
Foam reduces the usable volume in the fermenter and thus has a negative effect on the performance of the biogas plant. Due to the many different causes of foam formation, it must be combated according to the situation. Often, certain material (molecular) components of substrates, such as farm manure, pectin- and protein-rich plant substrates, are partly responsible for the formation of foam.
The laboratory test impressively shows how the useful volume of a fermenter can be significantly reduced by foaming fermentation medium. Compared to the negative (without addition) and positive control (addition of standard enzyme) UltraSweep® E2 shows a significant effect.
